Do they have electronic versions of all of their books, or just the city guides? I was just thinking about that while on my recent trip, how much more convenient it would be to have an iPad Touch or Kindle with all the travel books, books to read, etc instead of lugging around pounds worth of books!

They have city guides and language apps (phrasebooks). I downloaded all the freebies via iTunes, figuring that I can use them if I decide to get an iPhone or iPod Touch one day.

Uh oh, this may mess up future TARCon accommodations for some people: http://www.gadling.com/2010/07/25/new-york-short-term-apartment-rentals-to-become-illegal/ I assume it's directed toward VRBO-type rentals.

Question for the NYC peeps, a lady I work with wants to know the best way to get tickets to Letterman. Any hints?

1) Sign up on the website. There used to be a way to sign up for standby tickets (that's how I got them the one time I went - they called the day of and asked a trivia question). The website is blocked at work so I can't see if that is still an option.

2) I have seen people in Time Square area giving tickets away. Last time was near the TKTS booth around 2 in the afternoon.

3) If all else fails go to the studio. Every show I've ever been to has a cancelation/standby line that they will allow in as long as there is a seat.

When I was at TARCon back in May, we went to the studio and they had tickets for Monday - we stopped by on Saturday. So if she's there and has a few days notice, she might luck out.
